From 31st January 2024 local Pharmacies have been able to assess and treat 7 very common illnesses and to provide prescriptions if needed for treatment. These pathways are aimed at reducing demand for GP appointments and can be accessed on a walk-in basis or by telephoning your local pharmacy. The conditions they are able to treat are listed below:-
Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) in women aged 16 to 64 without complications
Shingles in patients aged 18 and over
Impetigo in anyone aged over 12 months
Acute Sore Throat in patients aged over 5 years
Acute Sinusitis in patients aged over 12 years
Acute Ear infections (otitis media) in children aged 1 to 17 years
Infected Insect Bites in anyone aged over 12 months
