 Antenatal Care

Routine antenatal check-ups are provided by our community midwife, Charlie Pinkney. These are 15 minute appointments. Booking-in appointments for 1st antenatal appointments take about an hour and are on Fridays. Please ring reception for details.

Baby clinic

A drop-in clinic for advice and weight checking with our Health Visitor, Kim Knapton and our Nursery Nurse, Sara Welstead.

Time: Wednesday 09.00 – 11.30


Travel Health Advice can no longer be provided by our Practice Nurses because this is a private service which is not covered by NHS indemnity arrangements (these changed on 1st April 2019). If you are planning a trip abroad we can provide contact details for other local travel clinics who will help you with your enquiry. Please ensure that you plan well ahead of time for any travel vaccinations you may need.

Childhood immunisations are arranged by appointment only, on Friday mornings from 9:00am to 11:30am. Appointments for these will be sent to you by our Receptionist, Kath Cherry.

Flu, Pneumovax and Shingles. We run a series of vaccination clinics for these  in the Autumn each year – watch out for bulletins nearer the time and for letters to eligible patients.  Ask at reception for further information.


Regular check-ups and advice from our Practice Nurses, Janet Drinkwater and Anne Maddison on lifestyle, inhaler techniques and medication. You will be sent an invitation when your annual review becomes due but appointments can be made at reception.

COPD Clinic

Regular check-ups and advice from our Practice Nurse, Janet Drinkwater including spirometry check, inhaler techniques, medication review and lifestyle advice. You will be sent an invitation when your annual review becomes due.

Diabetic Clinic

Regular check-ups and advice from our Practice Nurse, Karen Jose. You will be sent an invitation to this clinic when your annual review becomes due.

Time: Thursday 08.30 – 12.30


The community dietician visits the practice on Thursday mornings and will routinely see diabetic patients to discuss dietary advice. If you wish to consult with the dietician, please discuss this with a GP who will refer you on to the dietician.

Time: Thursdays, by appointment

CHD and Hypertension

Patients with a history of heart problems or those who have high blood pressure as well as those who have suffered a stroke are offered an annual check-up with Anne Maddison. You will be sent a letter when your annual check becomes due.

Podiatry Service

We have a community podiatrist on-site at the health centre as well as a podiatry assistant. Appointments with Podiatry should be arranged via their dedicated phone line on (01661) 832872 which operate on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9am to 2pm and on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 12noon. New podiatry patients will require an initial referral from their GP.

Treatment Room

Our district nursing team provide a treatment room session each day for dressings, ear care and certain injections.

Time: Monday – Wednesday 14-16.30; Thursday and Friday 09-12.30

Well-woman Checks

This provides a general check-up as well as cervical cytology screening where appropriate. Ladies will be invited to this session every 3 years (aged 25 to 49) or 5 years (aged 50 to 64).

Well-man checks

A general check-up for gentlemen is available on request by making an appointment with one of our practice nurses. Usually involves height, weight and BP checks, blood tests if required and life style advice.

Contraceptive Services

Contraceptive advice is available from any of our GPs. Dr Willins is trained to fit contraceptive coils and implants, please make a routine appointment should you wish to discuss this with Dr Willins. Ladies taking the contraceptive pill should ensure that they attend for an annual BP check with one of our practice nurses.

Continence Clinic

A continence assessment by a community staff nurse can be arranged by appointment. Please contact our main reception number should you wish to arrange a consultation.

Minor Surgery

Dr Dykins and Dr Parkin  are all trained to undertake minor surgery procedures. Please book an initial consultation with any one of them for an assessment and we will then arrange a date for the procedure.
