Covid19 – Shielded Patients

The Department of Health identified a group of patients who are considered to be at very high risk of complications should they catch the Covid19 virus and these patients should have received letters during week commencing 23rd March. A further group of patients was identified by the practice and letters were sent to those patients during week commencing 30th March.

Patients who have received these shielding letters should be taking extra precautions during this time and should be avoiding all face to face contact with others (excluding carers and healthcare workers).

Those who have not received a letter should be using social distancing measures to minimise the spread of infection at home and at work. Please speak to your employer if social distancing has not been implemented in your workplace. GPs cannot discuss individual queries with regard to a patients’ employment – please speak to your employer if you have concerns.
