We are making excellent progress through the eligible groups for Covid vaccinations and will shortly be moving into Cohort 4 which includes the clinically vulnerable shielding patients as well as those aged 70 to 75. However, we want to remind all patients of the importance of adhering to all of the government guidelines relating to social distancing, handwashing and the wearing of masks. The vaccination programme will not protect patients from transmission of the virus and does not mean that extremely vulnerable people can stop taking all of the precautions which they have been following so far. Covid continues to circulate in our community and, until sufficient numbers of people have received their second vaccine, the dangers of transmission still exist.
